CHUMPI STONES FOR THE CHAKRAS

Chumpi Stones (sometimes called Apu Stones) are healing stones from the Peruvian Andes.
These stones carry powerful energy. They are connected to the Apus (sacred mountains) of Peru: Apu Kuntur, Apu Machupicchu, Apu Sacsayhuaman, Apu Salkantay, Apu Pachatusuan, Apu Pumahuanca and Apu Senccapicol.
Made from "belenguela stone" or "huamanga stone" which is a kind of alabaster stone, these stones are collected from the Urubamba river region and carved by hand. They are used by the Q'ero people of the high Andes to transmit the power and other rituals of their lineage.
These stones are worked with for clearing energy centers, protective work, and grounding work.
"Chumpi" is a Quechua word meaning "belt". This refers to the stones used in the administration of what are referred to as: "Ceremonial power bands".
Power bands are rings or fields of energy that surround a person for protection. Each is linked to a chakra and their action works to seal off a person's energy field and ward off harmful energies that find their way through our natural energy defenses.
When the Chumpi Stones are placed on a person, it helps to awaken mountains both to help ground them and to reach their inner power, just like a mountain...firm, strong, and self-empowered.
The Chumpi Stones also allow working on the openness, discernment and empowerment of a person's energy centers. Just as our physical body has organs that maintain different life functions, our energy body has energy centers (sometimes called chakras) that also maintain different life functions – but on an energetic level. Sometimes these energy centers are blocked, closed, or weakened. The Chumpi stone can fill us with energy and undo dense blockages and then balance their flow.
The five energy belts correspond with the seven energy centers of the human body.
• The first band of energy is called Yana Wara, the color is black and corresponds to the base of the spine. The black belt is associated with water and the flow of our impulses.
• The next is Puka chumpi, the color is red for the blood of mother earth, Pachamama. This center is at our navel, which is called Qosqo, it corresponds to the element of earth, and our emotions.
• The third center is the heart, the nawi de sonqo (eye of the heart) the belt is called Qori chumpi, the golden belt. This belt is associated with the sun, Inti Tayta. The quality of perception corresponds to the feeling of love. The Quechan word for this kind of love is Munay; love and beauty.
• The throat center is next, with the Kunka nawi, the eye of the neck. The color of the belt is silver, Qolque Chumpi. This center is associated with the element of the moon (Killa), and air or wind. This center is on our perceptions of emotions and creativity.
• The fifth chumpi, is composed of three centers, our right eye, pana nawi, which is associated with the mystical side of the tradition. It is also about our communication to the spirit worlds and energy connections. The left eye, Lloque nawi is associated with the magical side of tradition. This center is about the practical application of Andean healing arts and the use of spiritual healing techniques and protocols. The third part of this center is the area of the forehead between our two physical eyes, Qanchis nawi. The third eye is the seeing eye, the ability to see the true reality of God. This power belt is the Chunpi Kulli, the color is purple.
As you can imagine, working with a set of Chumpi stones leads to the path of initiation. It is a powerful tool for clearing the heavy energy that we have acquired during life in a cultural environment that supports the development of our soul within the parameters of separation from our life force.
The Quechua word for this strength is kawsay. This ceremonial ritual is an example of how an individual can be reconnected to the living light energy of kawsay to experience vitality and love.
The symbols painted on the stone give great power to our energy centers.
Here is a short explanation of the different symbols:
